Who has the runs?

Well, now that Thanksgiving dinner is over and pie is on the horizon, I have some time to think about Turkey Trots.

...

OK, now that that's over with, I'll post some pictures of a race that we did this morning to celebrate the day. We went down to Lynchburg (about an hour away), and did a 5K with about 1596 other people.

Nick came in second in his age group and 22nd overall with a time of 19:26, while I followed with a 22:33 (7th in age group and 100th overall).

The three boys had a great time and all finished in 34, 35, and 36 minutes, respectively.

As you can see, the weather was nice enough for Nick to dress down a bit, which all the ladies on the course enjoyed.

The best (but sad) part of the race was seeing a girl barf right before crossing the finish line (it was a pretty hilly course).

And for once I didn't have to sneak post-race food for the boys, since they ran the race themselves.

OK, time for pie.

Lynchburg 10 Miler (Gangnam Style)

Mom asked that I post some pictures of my recent race in Lynchburg.  However, Facebook filters prevented me from posting this picture on my Facebook account (something about "excessive levels of awesomeness").  I ran the 10 miles at a pace of 6:39 /mile and didn't pass out.  I did have a dose of Zym that morning and PR'd (my previous 10 miler best was 6:59 /mile---when I was 26).

Although I don't "head up research at Penn" (good one, Mom), I actually do stuff besides creating mysterious siblings who, apparently, prefer the mullet.  I just found out that a paper I've been working on with colleagues for almost two years was finally accepted which will probably generate some controversy as soon as it comes out.  I'm hoping for a Sports Illustrated profile with a shirtless cover photo.

To all shorts fashionistas

Seeing Kai's picture reminded me that I hadn't shown everybody the sweet shorts that I got from Clint and Mayka. To show the contrast it brings out in my eyes, I'm including a couple pictures in regular black shorts (I also did a couple push-ups in between photo sessions). I should probably get a second or third pair since Kim loves them so much.

Movie Night!!

We just got through watching "Naked Gun 33 1/3". I can't believe what a dirty, nasty show it was - and we watched it back in the day! It didn't even have a rating. I must admit we were laughing so hard, even though I felt so guilty while doing it. What were we thinking??

 So this is Blockheads, a dessert place in Santa Monica, CA that just opened up in November 2011.

They sell traditional Taiwanese Shaved Snow.

 

 

Back in November they found a doodle artist on line whom they wanted create a piece to illustrate their story in a fun way.
